Presentation of the RENEWABLE ENERGIES PROFESSIONAL ORGANISATION (Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables)
The French Renewable Energies Professional Organisation (SER), created in 1993, is an umbrella group covering all relevant sectors, including the biomass (France Biomasse Energie), timber, biofuel, marine energy, wind turbine, geothermal, hydroelectricity, heat pump, photovoltaic solar (SOLER), thermal solar and thermodynamic sectors.
Its vocation is to promote the interests of the renewable energy industry with regard to the authorities, Parliament and all bodies responsible for energy, industry, employment and Research.
SER played a significant role in the French (Grenelle) environment summit and in the European Union’s adoption of the “energy-climate package” that should take the share of renewable energy consumption in our country to 23% in 2020 as compared to 14% in 2008. This establishes a clear goal for the organisation and its members and a base for proposals and actions.
Within the scope of its actions, SER meets and informs State representatives, members of parliament and the media. It also very actively follows the preparation of legislation and regulations.
Its main missions are:
• Representing the renewable energy industry
• Organising the sector
• Networking and informing its members
• Communicating on and promoting renewable energies
In 2014, the SER had 380 members and represented 75,000 jobs in the renewable energies field. Towards 2020, the entire renewable energies sector should represent 200,000 jobs.
