On July 10, the Urbasolar Group and the commune of Senon in the Meuse region of France inaugurated a 4.7 MWp solar power plant, demonstrating the commitment of both parties to the production of renewable energy in the region.
The inauguration took place on Wednesday, July 10, in the presence of the commune’s elected representatives and members of Urbasolar.
4.7 MWp capacity
Located at “Le Douaire”, the solar power plant has upgraded what used to be a quarry into a sustainable source of energy. In 2017, it was backfilled with inert materials and not returned to agriculture.
With an output of 4.7 MWp, the photovoltaic park will produce 5,194 MWh annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 2,400 people.
The result of a successful collaboration between renewable energy producer Urbasolar, the landowner and the municipality of Senon, this plant will contribute to the region’s sustainable development objectives, while also generating economic benefits for the municipality.
Environmental commitment
As with all its projects, the Urbasolar Group is committed to ensuring that the plant respects existing biodiversity. Natural habitats have been preserved, and measures put in place to encourage flora and fauna.
In terms of landscape integration, work has been carried out to ensure that the park blends seamlessly into its surroundings, notably with the creation of a hedge on the northern part of the site and a grove at the site entrance.
This latest inauguration in the Grand-Est region confirms the Group’s territorial roots and the strong desire of local players to make their region part of the energy transition.
