The third joint project between Urbasolar and the Aspro Parks group, the parking canopies at Walygator and Aqualand Agen symbolize their shared commitment to decarbonizing the leisure industry.
In the presence of Wilfrid Lelandais, Director France for the ASPRO Group, Sylvain Chatain, Director of the Walygator Sud-Ouest and Aqualand Agen parks, Gilles Amendola, Executive Director – Project Execution for Urbasolar, and a number of elected representatives from local authorities, the solar power plant on parking lot shades at the Walygator Sud-Ouest and Aqualand Agen parks was inaugurated today.
ASPRO PARKS: A commitment to the environment.
Specializing in leisure activities and operating over 70 water parks, amusement parks and aquariums in Europe, the ASPRO PARKS group is committed to a policy of sustainable development, and chose to cover its parking lots with photovoltaic shading systems long before the law made this compulsory!
Indeed, the APER law (Law no. 2023-175 of March 10, 2023 accelerating the production of renewable energies) now requires all parking lots in France to cover 50% of their spaces with solar panels, as soon as their surface area exceeds 1,500 m². While the decree soon to be published in the wake of this law is certain to give a major boost to the leisure market, some players like ASPRO PARKS have not waited to equip their parking lots with photovoltaic shading systems and take advantage of their many benefits.
The installation of this equipment fits in perfectly with the company’s commitment to the environment and responds to another of the group’s concerns: the well-being of its visitors. Thanks to the shading systems, not only will it produce carbon-free electricity locally, but it will also offer comfort to customers, by protecting their vehicles from heat and rain.
Urbasolar: solar expertise for the leisure industry
An expert in photovoltaic solar energy, the Urbasolar group has also become a specialist in the leisure industry. Developing innovative solutions that meet the highest quality standards, the group has made the leisure sector a key area of development, applying its know-how to meet the profession’s most demanding regulatory, technical, environmental and aesthetic requirements.
The partnership with the Aspro Parks group reinforces this strategic commitment to decarbonizing the industry by offering solutions for the local production of solar energy.
Urbasolar-ASPRO PARKS: a long-term partnership
After the parking canopies at Walygator Grand Est in Maizières-lès-Metz, inaugurated in June 2022, and those at Aqualand Fréjus, commissioned in 2023, Walygator Sud-Ouest and Aqualand Agen are now equipped with photovoltaic shading systems.
Thanks to these shading systems, almost 1,300 parking spaces covering more than 6 hectares will be protected. With a power output of 4.25 MWp, they will produce 5.1 GWh of low-carbon energy annually, equivalent to the annual consumption of over 2,350 people – or 100% of the town of Roquefort!
This new project reinforces the partnership between ASPRO PARKS and Urbasolar, which covers a total of 5 sites to be equipped. The parking lots at Aqualand St Cyprien and Ste Maxime will complement the solar park already in place. In all, more than 23 GWh of solar-generated electricity will be produced by the group, enough to supply the equivalent of the annual consumption of more than 11,200 people!
