The parking canopies at Le Bouscat racecourse gets photovoltaic shading!

The solar canopies of the parking lot of the hippodrome du Bouscat – Bordeaux, with a power of 1.3 MWp, were inaugurated today.

In the presence of Mr Bobet, Mayor of Le Bouscat, Mr Descamps, Chairman of the racecourse, Mr Plan, Urbasolar’s Project Manager for Development of Buildings and Umbrellas, and several elected representatives of the local authorities, the solar power plant on the car park umbrage at Le Bouscat racecourse was inaugurated today.

An area committed to the deployment of renewable energies

As the owner of the land, Le Bouscat town council did not wait for the Renewable Energy Acceleration Act of March 2023 to equip virtually the entire car park at the racecourse with photovoltaic shading.

The APER law (Law no. 2023-175 of 10 March 2023 on the acceleration of the production of renewable energy) now requires all car parks in France to have 50% of their spaces covered with solar panels, as soon as their surface area exceeds 1,500 m². While it is certain that the decree soon to be published in the wake of this law will provide a major boost to the leisure market, some committed players, such as Le Bouscat town hall and the racecourse, have already opted for photovoltaic solar energy and its many advantages.

Over a surface area of more than one hectare, almost 450 racecourse places are covered with photovoltaic canopies. With an output of 1.3 MWp, they will produce 1,603 MWh of low-carbon energy per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 700 people.

As well as producing green electricity locally, the parking canopies will also enhance the experience of visitors to the racecourse by protecting vehicles from heat and rain and incorporating lighting.

Urbasolar: solar expertise for leisure activities

An expert in photovoltaic solar energy, the Urbasolar group has positioned itself as a specialist in the leisure industry. Developing innovative solutions that meet the highest quality standards, the group has made this sector a key area of development, putting its know-how to work to meet the needs of the profession, whether regulatory, technical, environmental or aesthetic.

This solar shading project confirms Urbasolar’s commitment to working towards the deployment of low-carbon energy by supporting the sector in the energy transition.
